Henry Cavill is finally back as Superman. If fans are delighted, so is Zack Snyder, who first directed him in this role with “Man of Steel” (2013). The filmmaker has sent a message to the actor and says he looks forward to working with him again.
Henry Cavill, the basis of the DCEU
In 2013, Zack Snyder joined the DC stable with man of steel. The film centered on Superman made it possible to relaunch the character in the cinema and above all to build on these bases an extended universe in the manner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) was born, with Zack Snyder at its helm. The filmmaker making Batman v Superman (2016), offering the story of wonder woman (2017) or producing Aquaman (2018).
Unfortunately, despite strong box office scores, the DCEU has always struggled to come up with anything clear in the long run and grow as well as the MCU. Above all, in 2017, the exit of Justice League (originally by Zack Snyder) is extremely poorly received by fans who believe that Snyder’s work was trashed by Joss Whedon (who came to complete the project). For years part of the public has demanded that the filmmaker’s initial cuthis true vision, the Snyder’s cut of Justice League. They will win their case in 2021 thanks to HBO Max.
Since then, DC followers have been hoping for another one of their cravings to be validated at Warner. Bros. : Henry Cavill’s return as Superman. The actor immediately convinced with man of steel but after the “failure” of Justice League, the American studio seemed to be looking for a new direction. Zack Snyder approves of Superman’s return
The star has indeed heard the desire of the fans and would have also pushed for a return of superman. It did so with a post-credits scene that was acclaimed by DC followers. But also by Zack Snyder himself. The director has also been very excited to see Henry Cavill again as Clark Kent. He indeed sent a video to the actor during a conversation with the actor organized by MTV News (at 13min37 of the video below).
Zack Snyder first evoked a memory, their first scene filmed under green screen. He asked Henry Cavill if it was strange for him to pretend to fly while pointing his fist at the camera. Before complimenting him, presenting him as “the best Superman“ and expressing looking forward to working with him again.
Henry Cavill also raved about Zack Snyder. The two men appreciate each other and we hope to see them collaborate again together. However, as of now, other than the actor’s return to the role, nothing else has been confirmed. Even if we are talking about a Man of Steel 2, Snyder would not be involved in this project.. But given the changes at Warner Bros. (the departure of Walter Hamada, former president of DC Films), and this statement from the director, fans can still hope for.
