Zack Snyder’s films were the winners of both the “Oscars Fan Favorite” and “Oscars Cheer Moment” races.

The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which distributes the Oscar Awards, included audience voting for the first time this year. Voting on Twitter was organized into two categories.
#OscarsCheerMoment In the category titled, the movie scene that cheered/excited the audience the most was determined. #OscarsFanFavorite In the category, voting was made for the best film of 2021. Zack Snyder was the winner as a result of the voting held on Twitter and on the Academy’s website for people who have passed in America. In other words, these categories were marked by Snyder’s fans.
In the #OscarsCheerMoment race, the Speed Force scene in Zack Snyder’s Justice League took first place. This scene surpasses the scene where the three Spider-Mans come together in the 2021 blockbuster movie Spider-Man: No Way Home and the scene where all the heroes from Avengers: Endgame gather. The Justice League Speed Force scene, which was obviously not as effective as these two movies, was the target of humorous criticism on social media, while also showing that Zack Snyder’s dedicated fan base is working very well.
In the #OscarsFanFavourite category, Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead was the winner. It was also with the votes of Snyder’s fan base that this movie received more votes than Spider-Man: No Way Home, the biggest cinematic event of 2021, or Cinderella, which went before the vote at the beginning of this race but received very bad reviews from the audience. Namely, Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie was not suitable for competition in this category because it was a director’s fiction. Thereupon, fans organized on social media voted for another of Snyder’s films, Army of the Dead, which was released in 2021.
The Academy’s use of audience voting was criticized from the very beginning. It was said that this category would not determine the most liked movie or scene, but the best working fan base. The results seem to support this theory. It is not yet known whether this practice will continue at next year’s Oscars.
