Yakuza 8: the first images and details of the game with an amazing guest

The Japanese magazine Famitsu was able to visit the offices of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio for Yakuza 8. And the media did not come back empty-handed. Between images and information, here are the first details of this episode.

The first images of Yakuza 8

Yakuza 8 was formalized in 2021 with a simple message to announce the restructuring of the studio. Franchise creator Toshihiro Nagoshi has set sail to found his company funded by NetEase Games. Producer Daisuke Saito has also joined this new team.

The reported images (visible in our gallery) confirm that this part is a sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon, with Ichiban Kasuga as the protagonist. It’s the same… except for his hairstyle. He abandons his afro cut for slicked back hair and a ponytail. Accessory, we grant it to you.

But Famitsu gleaned more crispy things. Yakuza 8 will take place in a new city. Still in Japan? Maybe, even if games outside of Japanese soil could happen in the future. Additionally, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio recruited Mikuru Asakura, an MMA and YouTube star with his 2.6 million subscribers.. In September, he will face champion boxer Floyd Mayweather. Not afraid !

More turn-based?

Except surprise, this opus will always be a turn-based action-RPG, like the future titles of the license, even if nothing has been specified on this. Conversely, Judgment will be entitled to the more beat ’em all gameplay of the old Yakuza.

Finally Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio also mentioned a new game, which is not Yakuza 8, without saying more. It must probably be the completely new production in the works.
