Xbox Series X | S vs Wii U: Astonishing sales statistic revealed

Microsoft no longer communicates the sales figures of its consoles for several years. Instead, the American giant prefers to talk about the number of users of Xbox services. When it comes to Xbox Series X | S sales, then, curious people have had to settle for statements about their launch and how quickly they’ve sold compared to their big sisters. Despite the information lockdown practiced by Microsoft, sometimes interesting details slip through the cracks.

New and surprising information regarding Xbox Series X | S sales has just been revealed. In the UK in 2021, more Xbox Series X | Ss were sold than Wii Us during Nintendo’s console lifecycle. The statistic is reliable since it comes from Christopher Dring, the manager of the very serious GamesIndustry site.

This isn’t the first time the reporter has used Wii U sales as a benchmark. He had indeed revealed last April that the PS5 had already passed the total British sales of the Wii U. As well as those of the PS Vita and the Dreamcast.

Xbox Series X | S sales kept globally secret

But back to the Xbox Series X | S. Unfortunately for those who would like to learn more, Christopher Dring does not give precise figures. Something Microsoft doesn’t do either. Shortly after the release of the Xbox Series X | S, Phil Spencer’s company had simply indicated that it had sold more consoles in 24 hours than during the first 24 hours of all previous Xboxes.

The only Xbox Series X | S sales figures currently known are from Japan. As of October 31, 113,529 Xbox Series X | S were sold in the Japanese archipelago. As for the world total, it has therefore not been made public. According to an analyst estimate, 8 million Xbox Series X | S have been distributed across the world.

The Wii is resisting

Finally, one last unexpected statistic. According to statistics available to Christopher Dring, 4 new Wii’s were sold across the Channel in 2021. It won’t change the face of the world, but it’s interesting that some stores still have Wiis on their shelves. And that these sales are accounted for.

What do you say about this statistic? Does she surprise you? Do you believe that the sales of Xbox Series X | S have exceeded those of Wii U in France? Give us your opinion in the comments below.
