The Game Awards 2022 have taken place and unfortunately for fans, Xbox was absent from the ceremony despite the physical presence of Phil Spencer and his eventual successor Sarah Bond. But no need to panic, the situation is under control.
2023 will be a busy year for Xbox
While PlayStation and Nintendo walked away with their hands full of awards for their games at The Game Awards 2022 and put on a show there with presentations, Xbox instead took the field with ads for its Xbox Game Pass. A noticeable absence on social networks which prompted Aaron Greenberg, vice-president of marketing, to reassure owners of a Series X|S.
And even though Microsoft believes that “Playstation exclusives are better”, something heavy is coming in 2023 at Xbox. Including exclusives, and of course, day one in their subscription service.
We have a lot to show and share about a year 2023 that promises to be truly exciting. We appreciate people being eager to learn and see more. Timing is always key, but don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too long to find out what to expect from us.
Examples maybe? Next year’s highlight for Xbox will be the release of Starfield. Bethesda’s space opera that won’t just be a “Simple Skyrim in Space”. There will also be time-exclusive STALKER 2, Arkane’s new Redfall franchise (Dishonored, Prey), Forza Motorsport, and follow-ups to titles like Grounded or Sea of Thieves.
Was the takeover of Activision Blizzard, which is in bad shape, also a factor in the withdrawal of the manufacturer? We won’t know…
