September 11 continues to interest American cinema. In “Worth”, it will be about financial compensation for the families of the victims. Check out the trailer with Michael Keaton.

Worth : how much does a human life cost?

Shown in January 2020 as a preview at the Sundance Film Festival, Worth was picked up by Netflix at the beginning of the year 2021. Despite good returns, the film took a long time to find a distributor. The passage on the platform will allow him to obtain a major exhibition. Because its subject deserves it.

This realization by Sara Colangelo will tackle the delicate subject of post-September 11. Following the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, the United States tried to help affected families. However, it was necessary to estimate how much a life cost to define the amount of compensation. But is it possible to do it? Author Kenneth R. Feinberg addressed this sensitive issue in the book What Is Life Worth?: The Unprecedented Effort to Compensation the Victims of 9/11 and it is precisely the latter which serves as the basis for the film.

A trio at the head of a drama that promises to be poignant

The screenplay signed by Max Borenstein is long remained on the famous Hollywood Black List before finally being used. It revolves around three characters: Kenneth Feinberg (a lawyer appointed by Congress to lead the victims’ compensation fund), Charles Wolf (a widower who lost his wife in the attacks) and Camille Brios (chief of staff in which works Kenneth Feinberg). They are respectively embodied by Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci and Amy Ryan – a solid main trio.

The film delivers exactly what one expects in its first trailer. Or the confrontation between lawyers who must have a pragmatic vision facing families who are inhabited by deep pain, with a lot of scenes that take place in offices. We can already see how lawyers are faced with a complex problem for which there seems to be no right answer. With such a powerful topic, Netflix is likely to cause a stir with the release of Worth. The feature film will be uploaded on September 3 next.
