Woody Allen stated that, contrary to the news, he did not say that he was retiring.

Woody Allen denied the rumors in an interview with a Spanish magazine that his next movie will be his last and he has not made a statement that he will retire. The 86-year-old director released the following statement to clarify his words:
“Woody Allen never said he was retiring, nor did he say he’s writing another novel. He said that because he’s a lover of the cinematic experience, making movies that go directly or very quickly to broadcast platforms isn’t much fun for him, so he’s considering not making movies. He has no intention of retiring at the moment. No, and he’s excited to shoot his new film, which will be his 50th film, in Paris.”
The confusion swept through an interview Allen gave to La Vanguardia prior to the European film “Wasp 22,” in which he said, “In principle, my idea is to focus on writing, not making more films.” However, this isn’t the first time that Woody Allen is leaving the movie industry.
In an interview with Alec Baldwin in June, which was broadcast live on Instagram, Allen stated that he would “direct one or two more films”, but that his “excitement is gone” due to the decrease in the experience of watching movies in the movie theater.
