The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself is set in a world where witches are real. There are good and bad specimens that fight each other and don’t necessarily shy away from human collateral damage. Until recently, 16-year-old Nathan Byrn (Jay Lycurgo) feared he might one day become one of those victims.
However, he has now learned that he is the illegitimate son of the most dangerous witch on earth: Marcus Edge (David Gyasi). The good witches knew of Nathan’s origins and protected him for years without his knowledge. But when the dispute between the two sides threatens to escalate further, they demand something in return.
“I’m supposed to kill my father,” the boy says to his shocked friends Annalize (Nadia Parkes) and Gabriel (Emilien Vekemans). The trio flee, leaving Nathan wondering if his own life is really worth saving. After all, he is on the verge of gaining his witch powers. And without knowing which side he will be on…
“The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself” starts on October 28, 2022 worldwide exclusively on the streaming service Netflix. The first season will consist of eight episodes, all of which will be made available on that day. The series is based on the novel Half Bad by British author Sally Green. It was developed, written and produced by Joe Barton. The Londoner was previously responsible for the series “Duty and Shame” and “The Lazarus Project” and also wrote the screenplays for films such as “Encounter” and “The Ritual”. Another producer is Andy Serkis, the Gollum from the Lord of the Rings movies.
The main roles are played by Jay Lycurgo, known from the DC series “Titans”, Nadia Parkes (“The Spanish Princess”), Belgian Emilien Vekemans (“The Magic Book of Arkandias”) and David Gyasi from “Interstellar’ and ‘Cloud Atlas’.
Karen Connell (“Vikings: Valhalla”), Paul Ready (“Bodyguard”, “The Terror”), Kerry Fox (“Small Murders Among Friends”) and former Moloko singer Róisín Murphy make their acting debuts.
