Absent from The Suicide Squad, Will Smith does not rule out the possibility of one day taking over the role of Deadshot, which he held in the first episode devoted to the team of supervillains.
Biggest star in the cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, Will Smith did not shoot in the James Gunn sequel / reboot released this summer. However, it does not rule out replaying Deadshot in the future.
In a video posted on the GQ YouTube channel, the comedian confirmed that his absence was linked to a scheduling conflict. “I worked [sur autre chose] and they were ready to shoot. It was a timing issue”, He thus assured, before inquiring (having probably not seen The Suicide Squad):
“Didn’t they re-cast Deadshot? They left Deadshot out, right? So Idris [Elba] play a different character, it’s not Deadshot ? ”
After having had confirmation that Idris Elba did indeed lend his features to another anti-hero (Bloodsport), Will Smith then exclaimed: “OK cool ! So I can come back!”
The actor, who will be showing in The Williams Method on December 1, is therefore completely open to a new foray into the DC universe in cinema. But it would still be necessary for a new Suicide Squad to be started by Warner, which is not currently the case. And given the results of the second episode at the box office, it should not be for now.
