Whitney Cummings starred in an episode of the upcoming Fox anthology series “Accused.” The series is based on the BBC crime anthology of the same name. Each episode opens with the defendants in a courtroom, with the audience knowing nothing about their crimes or how they were tried. Also, each episode will have a different cast.
Cummings will play Brenda, a tough female stand-up artist who is forced to confront public and courtroom prejudices after reporting that she was sexually assaulted. Cummings is already a well-known stand-up comedian with his fourth stand-up special on Netflix in 2019. She previously produced and starred in the NBC sitcom “Whitney” and co-produced the CBS comedy series “2 Broke Girls”.
On the film side, she most recently appeared in “Studio 666” and acted in movies like “The Wedding Ringer”, “Made of Honor” and “The Ridiculous Six”. She will later appear in “Good Morning With U.” It was previously announced that Michael Chiklis will play the lead role in the first episode of the series, while Marlee Matlin will direct another episode. Howard Gordon produced “Accused” alongside Alex Gansa and David Shore.
