JUMANJI 3. Two years after a successful reboot, the license returned in December 2019 with a Jumanji 3 titled Next Level.
[Mis à jour le 28 août 2022 à 20h45] After Welcome to the Jungle, the saga Jumanji signed his return in a third installment, entitled “Next Level”. Fans of the franchise were able to find the video game that immerses real-world protagonists in the jungle. The heavenly settings have something to dream about, but do you know where this third episode was shot?
Jumanji 3: Next Level has set up its cameras in the United States, more specifically in Atlanta which served as a backdrop for the city of Brantford, New Mexico or in the Algodones Dunes, California. Several scenes were also shot in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu (in the Waimea Valley, North Shore and Kualoa Ranch). The city of Calgary, as well as the ski resort Fortress Mountain Resort, both in Canada, also served as sets for certain sequences.
Synopsis – Following the events that occurred in Jumanji, the teenagers who have managed to get out of the infernal video game have more or less lost sight of each other. Still feeling bad about herself, Spencer decides to return to the jungle of the game to find the stature of Dr. Bravestone. His friends decide to follow him again to extricate him from Jumanji. Problem: During the transfer to the game, Spencer’s grandfather and his old friend are catapulted into the video game!
After the Welcome to the Jungle reboot, which nearly hit $1 billion, Jumanji offers a third opus two years later. Entitled “Next Level” this Jumanji 3 takes the same and starts over in a sequel that relies heavily on the foundations of the previous film: the main quartet (Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Jack Black) is back in an action-comedy with now self-referenced humor that plays less with the codes of video games than with the rules of its own universe. New to this episode, whose scenario uses and abuses, the characters can change avatars in game, which often gives rise to hilarious sequences. Here, Kevin Hart will imitate Danny Glover while Dwayne Johnson offers us his best Danny DeVito. We’ll let you discover the rest in theaters. We can however regret that the main characters are roughly on the spot in this sequel where the scenario attaches more to the newcomers than to the casting in place.
Like the previous installment, Jumanji 3 works well but often pulls on the rope by dint of reusing the ingredients that made the success of Welcome to the Jungle. This new episode tries to bring a little visual variety to the action, but it sometimes falls flat in the shower of visual effects that are not always transcendent. It remains that we find with pleasure these four crazy heroes played by actors who give it their all in an adventure that remains quite amusing. If you liked Welcome to the Jungle, you might enjoy Jumanji NextLevel. Otherwise, go your way, this film takes the same, multiplies the formula by two, and starts again.
