Before the third season of The Witcher and the next departure of Henry Cavill replaced by Liam Hemsworth, the Witcher universe is adorned with a new series on netflix ! On December 25, subscribers to the leading platform in the subscription streaming category have an appointment with The Witcher : Blood Origin or rather The Witcher : The inheritance of blood in French version. This is a spin-off series in four episodes which focuses, as its name suggests, on the origins of witchers 1,200 years before the saga of Geralt de Riv camped so far by Henry Cavill. This is about following seven warriors whose quest will lead, in the course of these episodes, to the emergence of the very first witcher, a monster hunter genetically modified to increase his strength. In the universe of The Witcher, witchers are a reason for fear for humans who often reject them for their difference. In the original series, Geralt is a witcher.
On the production side, Declan de Barra serves as showrunner and executive producer. In addition to his scenarios for Vampire Diaries and the Iron Fist series, de Barra wrote several episodes of the series The Witcher in which he also performs four songs from the soundtrack. It was therefore logical for him to continue his career in the extended universe of the saga The Witcher with this prequel called Legacy of Blood. Regarding the cast, you will also recognize Michelle Yeoh, legendary Hong Kong actress who recently starred in the excellent Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.
