THE POWER OF THE DOG NETFLIX. Jane Campion’s film, “The Power of the Dog”, dominates the race for the Oscars with no less than 12 nominations. But what is this western with Benedict Cumberbatch about?

what is your favorite film of the Oscars about?

Best film, best direction, best actors and actresses… The Power of the Dog raced for the lead at the Oscars. With no less than 12 nominations, Jane Campion’s film is the big favorite of the 2022 award ceremony. However, we will have to wait until March 27 to find out if it will win all the prizes or not.

With a citation in the best director category of the Oscars, Jane Campion makes history and becomes the first female director to accumulate two nominations in this category, after The piano lesson. The filmmaker, however, never won the statuette. For this film, Jane Campion has already won the Silver Lion for best direction at the last Venice Film Festival.

The Power of the Dog is a western available on Netflix. We follow the Burbank brothers, Phil, cruel and brilliant, and Georges, benevolent and phlegmatic, who are at the head of one of the largest ranches in the Montana valley. When Georges marries Rose, a young widow, without telling his brother, Phil goes into a rage and decides to destroy his sister-in-law’s life.

For this, he will use Rose’s son, Peter, a sensitive boy who could turn out to be more formidable than the cowboy might think. In the cast of The Power of the Dog, we find Benedict Cumberbatch (Phil), Kirsten Dunst (Rose Gordon), Jesse Plemons (George Burbank), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Peter). All four are nominated for Oscars in their respective categories.
