What if T’Challah had become the new Captain America? This is one of the questions that will be asked in the series “What If …?” launched on Disney + on August 11. An animated program that reinvents the Marvel Cinematic Universe in every way.
What If …? : the Marvel series that will delight fans
While waiting for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to continue in theaters and on television, a gluttony will allow you to wait. The animated series What If …? arrives on Disney + with a concept that is likely to seduce fans. The episodes resume the principle of the eponymous comics, in which the writers could have imagined crazy situations if such or such event of the main timeline had not happened. For example, readers were able to see a world in which Captain America is president of the United States or one in which the Avengers never existed. Anything is possible as long as you let your imagination run wild and the concept can extend to infinity as so many things have happened in the extended universe.
In the animated series adaptation, we can notably see T’Challah who became Star-Lord at the head of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Tony Stark who teams up with Killmonger to lead Wakanda or a Captain America transformed into an undead in a use of the fun Marvel Zombies arc. A horror vibe that could have been further exploited with an episode on Spider-Man that becomes a real spider, but the episode was canceled because it was deemed unsuitable for a PG-13 rating. Too bad, we would have liked to see that but other surprises are to be discovered in the first season of nine episodes and Peter Parker will be there. To note that What If …? will then find an extension with a season 2 of the same length.
Even though this project seems more recreational compared to the rest of the MCU, the studio is not laughing at the fans and is calling back for the occasion. famous actors so that they lend their voices to the characters. We have the pleasure of hearing Robert Downey Jr. and all the usual clique again, whether in the first or the second roles. According to the promotion, What If …? has some interest as part of the extended universe and is launching some characters, like Uatu and even Howard the Duck. After the series airs, the MCU will resume its forward march in theaters on September 1st with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
