Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby return for “What have we all done to the Good Lord?”, Third part of the popular saga. The trailer was unveiled by UGC. The film will be released on February 2.
It continues for What did we do to the good Lord?
After tackling the comic book adaptation Student Ducobu (in 2011 then his sequel in 2012), Philippe de Chauveron achieved his biggest success in 2014 with comedy What did we do to the good Lord?. With over 12 million admissions in France, the film is a box. Worn by Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby in the role of two Catholic bourgeois, the feature film is amused by the racism of this old couple whose sons-in-law are a Muslim, a Jew and an Asian. The climax is reached when they see a fourth arrive, Claude, who is black. What did we do to the good Lord? thus plays on clichés and prejudices.
It’s sometimes funny, sometimes heavy, but in the end the public has joined and motivated Philippe de Chauveron to make a sequel, What have we done to the Good Lord again? (2019), which attracted over 6 million viewers. What have we all done to the good Lord? will therefore be the third part with more and more misunderstandings between the different families.
We take the same and start again
Indeed, in this new film, the Verneuil family will welcome all the families of their sons-in-law. Already annoyed to see the boys all day long, Claude will live even more badly with the arrival of all these in-laws – who obviously come with their own culture and their habits. The trailer (in an article) shows in particular the coming confrontation between the Jewish family and the Muslim family.
Casting side, no change, the whole team is back. In addition to Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby, we will therefore have Frédérique Bel, Émilie Caen, Élodie Fontan and Alice David in the role of the girls. And Ary Abittan, Medi Sadoun, Frédéric Chau and Noom Diawara in that of the sons-in-law. What have we all done to the good Lord? will be released in theaters on February 2, 2022.
