Born on October 2, 1986, Camilla Belle was ten years old during the filming of the film “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”, the time of a memorable introduction. We then saw her in “Terror on the line”, or more recently on Netflix in “Carter”.
Camilla Belle’s first steps in Jurassic Park 2
Despite a first film appearance in The little Princess (1995) by Alfonso Cuarón, it’s good with The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) that Camilla Belle came to prominence at the age of ten. Indeed, she is at the center of a rather memorable introductory scene. It is she who interprets the young Cathy Bowman, present on the island of Isla Sorna with his parents.
The family’s cruise then turns into a disaster when the child crosses paths with Compsognathus. Small dinosaurs that may seem harmless, but in numbers are very dangerous. And they don’t intend to settle for Cathy’s sandwich for their slab break…
A rather traumatic scene. Especially since we will never really know what became of the character afterwards. The film only saying that she was injured, but that she is fine. A way to reassure us after letting us imagine the worst…
Regarding Camilla Belle, after this experience, she continued to appear on the sets alongside prestigious castings. In 1998, for example, she played young Sandra Bullock in the film The Sorceress, also worn by Nicole Kidman. Then, the years passed, and after leading the Disney Channel TV movie, Girls of the Ocean (2000), we found it in 2006 in Terror on the lineremake of the 1979 film by Fred Walton.
Then 20 years old, Camilla Belle played a babysitter harassed by a man on the phone. The latter begins by asking her this chilling question: “Have you checked that the children are well?”, before continuing to push her to the limit.
Notable films of the 2000s
The end of the 2000s could have allowed the actress to take a step forward. Because besides Terror on the linewe find it in The Quiet (2008) alongside Elisha Cuthbert, and especially in the film 10,000 (2008) by Roland Emmerich. Although the latter was a good success at the worldwide box office (almost 270 million dollars), the actress did not find a truly memorable role afterwards. Even though she’s spinning fifteen films in ten years, the majority of the feature films in question will have limited releases. Most of them being unpublished in France.
Lately, we have still been able to see it for two episodes in the series Dollface on Disney+. A secondary role but which makes it possible to find it on the screen. The same goes with CarterNetflix’s Korean production in which she plays Agnès, a CIA agent.
Camilla Belle is also gone behind the camera to shoot a segment of the horror movie Phobias. A first experience as a director which could lead to others.
Next to filming
In addition to being the association’s spokesperson Kids with a Causewhich aims to help underprivileged children, Camilla Belle remains very present on social networks and in particular instagram where she posts above all images of her daily life.
On the private side, she shared her life with American singer Joe Jonas after shooting in the clip for lovebug of the Jonas Brothers. A relationship that did not last very long (between 2008 and 2009) but which inspired Taylor Swift, ex-girlfriend of Joe Jonas, the song Better Than Revenge. Since then, she has remained particularly discreet about her private life.
