[Mis à jour le 6 novembre 2021 à 9h00] Like all previous Marvel films, The Eternals have two post-credits scenes. The latter should question the spectators, since they open several opportunities for the future of the MCU in cinema or in series on streaming platforms. Please note, the rest of this article contains spoilers on the post-credits scenes of the Eternals. If you don’t want to know the content of these two final scenes, we recommend that you continue reading a little further down.
The first post-credits scene des Eternals allows us to discover Thena (Angelina Jolie), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) and Druig (Barry Keoghan) aboard their ship, the Domo. As they wonder if they shouldn’t return to Earth to find Sersi, Kingo, and Sprinte, an intruder interrupts them and enters the Domo’s interior. These are Eros, Thanos’ brother played by Harry Styles, and his friend, the troll Pip. Both offer their help, Eros possessing the sphere which allows to come into contact with Arishem and teaches them that he knows where are the three Eternals kidnapped. The second post-credits scene takes us back to London, to the Natural History Museum. Dane Whitman is found in his office, opening a chest of drawers in which the Ebony Sword is located. As he prepares to grab it, he is interrupted by a voice.
Explanation of the post-credits scenes of the Eternals
The Eternals introduces, in its first post-credits scene, the character of Eros. Also nicknamed Starfox in the comics, he is also an Eternal from Titan who joins the Avengers. We already know his illustrious brother, since it is Thanos, who eradicated the planet with a snap of his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. They are both sons of Mentor. In the MCU, Eros is played by Harry Styles, who dyed his hair red for the occasion. This superhero not only possesses superhuman strength, but he is also able to fly.
The readers of the comics will have understood well by discovering the second post-credits scene of the Eternsl that Dane Whitman would be none other than the Dark Knight, a superhero without power but skilful with the sword. His uncle, Nathan Garrett, was before him a criminal Dark Knight, who asks his nephew to atone for his sins and redeem his lineage. That’s why, in the film, Dane tells Sersi about a complicated relationship with his uncle. It seems certain that we will find Dan Whitman, played by Kit Harrington, in the next Marvel films, this time in the role of the Dark Knight. The question is whether he will be entitled to his film or series solo, or if we will rather find him in group adventures with other superheroes, and why not the other Eternals.

Rarely a marvel movie will not have divided criticism as much as The Eternals. Directed by Chloé Zhao, filmmaker awarded the Oscar for best director in 2021, the expectations were perhaps too high. Or maybe Marvel fans justifiably don’t find the usual recipe for studio films in this blockbuster that’s more human, ambitious, slow, and talkative than usual. The action film is shunned in the United States, the feature film only collecting a rating of 5.8 / 10 on IMDB, and 56% positive opinions on …
