Comedian Kheiron has created a bespoke role for himself in his second feature film “Mauvaises Herbes”. An assumed choice, where he slips into the skin of Waël, who discovers the job of educator. He will have six problematic college students under his responsibility.
Weeds : Kheiron’s second film
After the huge success of his first film, The three of us or nothing, the humorist Kheiron decided to continue directing films ; it is with this in mind that he persevered in the field. Four years later The three of us or nothing, the budding filmmaker embarks on the production of Weeds, his second feature film. For the occasion, the actor decides to play himself in his film, and surrounds himself with an impressive cast including Catherine Deneuve, Alban Lenoir and André Dussollier.
With Weeds, Kheiron tells the daily life of Waël, a former street child, who lives in the Parisian suburbs and subsists by doing a few little scams. His life takes a new turn when he decides to take a small job in a center for children excluded from the school system. Waël finds himself responsible for a group of six teenagers, bad endearing seeds. Unfortunately for Kheiron, Weeds did not do the expected result at the box office with only 403,000 admissions on French soil. Since then, Kheiron has returned to directing for a third time with the loathsome Brutus Vs Caesar.
Kheiron wanted to be the center of attention
In The three of us or nothing, Kheiron decided to tell a true story. Here in Weeds, the line between reality and fiction is very thin, as he said at the time of the film’s release:
I mainly started with a subject that I know. The six children in the film are genuine cases, either that I observed as an educator, or that my colleagues told me about, or that happened to people I know when they were teenagers.

But what is especially interesting in Weedsis that Kheiron decided to take the lead role. A decision that is not trivial. After the success of The three of us or nothing, her phone has never rang so much. But according to him, producers and directors only offered him the roles of migrants, then supporting roles, before his phone no longer rings at all. So he decided to give himself his chance by playing the leading role of Weeds :
With Us three or nothing, I put so much emphasis on the character of my mother, who is a driving force, that I wanted to have fun and be closer to what I do on stage: I wanted to embody a motor character in my turn. So I wrote a custom role that I wanted to play. Already in France, when an actor is also a director, we tend to forget that he can also act, so if I don’t act in my own films, you won’t often see me on the screen!
We are never better served than by ourselves in short. Weeds is overall a success and can be found this evening on M6:
