The actress, Oscar winner in 2003 for “Chicago” by Rob Marshall, signs her first collaboration with Tim Burton. In the series “Wednesday”, she will play the matriarch of the Addams family.

While many rumors suggested that Eva Green, a loyal collaborator of Tim Burton, could play Morticia Addams, it is ultimately Catherine Zeta-Jones who will play the strangest mother of the family on the small and big screen. This is the first time that the actress has performed under the direction of the director. She thus joins Luis Guzmán, just confirmed as the father, Gomez Addams.
Both will give the reply to Jenna Ortega, chosen to play the famous Wednesday, cynical teenager and a bit morbid. The actress, soon to appear in the new Scream, succeeds Lisa Loring, Christina Ricci and Chloë Grace Moretz in the role.
Consisting of 10 episodes – all directed by Tim Burton – the series will follow the adventures of the heroine, a high school student in Nevermore, who will attempt to solve a mysterious investigation based on a 25-year-old secret involving her own parents. Presented as a program that is both horrific, detective with a touch of the fantastic, Mercredi signs the filmmaker’s first project with the Netflix platform. No release date has yet been revealed.
