Virginie Efira is one of our most exciting French-speaking actresses. In 2022, she led two dramas which made her the favorite for the César for best actress. At the microphone of Pierre Lescure, for the France 2 program “Beau Geste”, she confided that she was fascinated by a famous American actress.
Virginie Efira: a radiant year 2022
After starting out as a TV presenter first in Belgium then in France, Virginie Efira has since built a solid career as an actress, first in comediesthen in a more dramatic register.
In 2022, she carried two poignant dramas: See Paris again by Alice Winocour, and Other people’s children by Rebecca Zlotowski (we also saw her in Don Juan, Waiting for Bojangles). After five nominations to the Césars (for his roles in Victoria, An impossible love, The Big Bath, Goodbye idiots and Benedetta), the statuette does not seem to be able to escape him this year. In any case, that’s all the harm we wish him.

It was to celebrate this auspicious year for Virginie Efira that she was the first guest to inaugurate the new movie show of France Télévisions entitled Nice gesture, presented by Pierre Lescure. The first episode broadcast this Sunday on France 2 (and available in replay) was therefore an opportunity to discover more about the tastes of the Belgian actress.
Julia Roberts, the model
Among the models who made her want to be an actress, Virginie Efira cites in particular Gena Rowlands, Marilyn Monroe, Romy Schneider or even Julia Roberts. And she entrusts feeding a true passion for the latter.
Julia Roberts comes back often and maybe I didn’t assume it at the beginning (…) In Pretty Woman (…) there is the appearance of the gestures of Julia Roberts (…) it is at the same time a woman, a man, a child. There is a form of virility, of masculinity, there is the child, there are very ample gestures. It’s not an intellectual thing, it’s an aesthetic shock, with a power of life, a mouth that devours, a joy thing that excited me terribly
she said.
A passion for the actress who would have even led her to “question her sexuality”, reminded her of Pierre Lescure.
Ah maybe it was that far, yes. Sexuality always raises questions.
Efira replied.
