While “Venom 2” is currently in theaters, a question arises as to the fate of Detective Mulligan at the end of the film. We’ll explain everything to you, but beware, SPOILERS!
On the program of Venom 2
About a year after the events of the first film, Eddie Brock still “cohabits” with the famous symbiote in Venom 2. A complicated cohabitation for Eddie as for Venom. The first would like to have a little more privacy when the second would like to devour something other than chickens and chocolate. Despite this, they will go together to the serial killer Cletus Kasady. A meeting that will go wrong and allow Cletus to become the host of a new symbiote, Carnage, much less friendly than Venom …
We find in the casting of this sequel Tom hardy who still plays Eddie, while Michelle Williams and Reid Scott still play the supporting roles of Anne and Dan. On the side of the new antagonists Woody Harrelson is Cletus and Naomie Harris is his mate Frances, aka Shriek. Finally, Stephen Graham plays Detective Mulligan while Andy Serkis is in charge of directing this time.
What is happening to Mulligan?
Venom 2 therefore staged two symbiotes. But they’re not the only ones in the Marvel Universe. Venom is indeed the 998th of his generation, his son Carnage is the 999th, and there is of course a 1000th, Toxin. It is the latter that seems to have been introduced quickly at the end of the film. Indeed, after a fierce fight against Carnage, we come back to detective mulligan. The latter was struggling with Shriek and ended badly. We thought he was dead, but he’s coming back to life with bright blue eyes. In the comics, Mulligan is just the first host of Toxin.
In the film, a problem remains. Because, on the screen, it was not shown contact between a symbiote and Mulligan. If for Cletus he had to bite Eddie to soak up Carnage, we do not see anything similar for Mulligan. And if we refer to the comics, Toxin is normally implanted directly into Mulligan’s neck by Carnage. However, during his fight, Shriek gapes an eye at Mulligan. A wound treated afterwards since we can clearly see, when he wakes up, the detective with his two eyes. Regeneration being precisely one of the powers of symbionts, it all makes sense.
Still, we will wait for a potential Venom 3 explains more precisely how the symbiote could be implanted in Mulligan. Something that shouldn’t be too difficult. Especially since the previous films have already shown certain scriptwriting facilities.
While waiting for the continuation of the adventures of Venom, which could pass a head in Spider-Man: No Way Home from the post-credits scene, Venom 2 is to be discovered in the rooms since October 20e.
