What will Tom Hardy’s future be in the Spider-Man universe after “Venom: Let There Be Carnage”? The actor evokes the famous long-awaited crossover with Spider-Man and is already talking about a possible third episode on his character.
The Sony Extended Universe in its early days
The film Venom is for the moment the only visible part of the extended universe developed around Spider-Man at Sony. Waiting for Morbius which will arrive on January 19, 2022 in our theaters, the next event is the release on 20 october of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. A suite with always Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. Behind the camera, Andy Serkis took the place of Ruben Fleischer. The main attraction is the highlighting of Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady / Carnage. The great enemy of Venom has started to show itself in the first trailers and it is not known if he is doomed to drag on in the Extended Universe.
At any rate, the studio has a long-term plan and will introduce several known characters in the entourage of the Spider-Man. The latter will even end up making an appearance in the films, still in the guise of Tom Holland. Sony has decided to leave the character in the MCU for a bit more to No Way Home then it will come back home for a still very secret use.
An upcoming Venom / Spider-Man encounter?
There are two things that fans expect in particular. First, the constitution of the Sinister Six. Then, the encounter between Spider-Man and Venom. It is impossible to imagine that Sony will not be tempted by one of these two ideas. During an interview at Esquire, Tom Hardy did not hide his deep desire to see the birth of the crossover between his character and Peter Parker.
I would be remiss if I didn’t try to drive some connection. I wouldn’t do this job if I wasn’t awake and open to all opportunities or if I wasn’t excited about it.
We dare to imagine that Sony will have enough flair to allow the meeting between the two enemies, even if Venom is described more as an anti-hero with this incarnation than as a pure evil entity. Nothing has yet been released on when Spider-Man will return to Sony. Everything suggests that we will know more after his last adventure at Marvel and the multiverse is likely to be used. In the meantime, Tom Hardy begins to evoke a possible Venom 3 :
A third movie won’t have a green ending until the second is a hit, but the studio was really, really excited about the second.
