At the center of Enemy Unknown is Pedro de Toro (Daniel Martinez). Pedro worked for one of Mexico’s most powerful drug cartels for years. After his exit, he is now to testify against his former bosses as a key witness for the federal authorities. Until then, he and his family live in a bunker-like safe house.
One night, around ten-year-old Lina (Paulina Gil) shows up at the door and begs for shelter. The girl, in a deplorable state, claims to be being hunted by a group of dangerous men.
At first, Pedro thinks it must be the cartel killers who want to eliminate him shortly before the court date. But when Lina’s pursuers finally arrive, he realizes that they have supernatural powers and are driven by an irrepressible thirst for blood: namely, they are Vampire.

Director Rigoberto Castañeda (“Blackout” and Amazon Prime Videos “SOZ Soldiers Or Zombies”) and his American co-screenwriter Michael Caissie (“Hangman – The Killing Game”) apparently combined all their favorite films and favorite genres for their work.
There are elements of drug thrillers, reminding us of John Carpenter’s siege hit Assault, there’s ninja action as well as some elaborately choreographed martial arts brawls and a few Mad Max ‘ looking post-apocalyptic villains make an appearance too. In addition, the last name of the protagonist sounds damn like that of Guillermo del Toro, the common role model of the makers. After all, they apparently named the little girl in their story after the main actress from “So dark the night”.
Daniel Martínez from the Netflix Christmas outfit Grumpy Christmas, Lisette Morelos (Gates Of Hell), up-and-coming actress Paulina Gil (Wind Traces) and Horacio Garcia Rojas from Clint Eastwoods provided the main parts of Enemy Unknown “Cry Macho” as well as the recently released revenge thriller “There Are No Saints” in front of the camera.
