While Canal + broadcasts tomorrow evening the last episodes of season 2 of Franck Gastambide’s event-series on French rap, the creator reveals that Hatik, hero and revelation of season 1, did not experience this scriptwriting choice very well.
By discovering season 2 of Validé broadcast since October 9 on Canal +, fans of the muscular series on the French rap scene were surprised to discover a new heroine, Lalpha, camped by the talented Laetitia Kerfa … But also the disappointment of seeing Apash’s death be confirmed in the first few minutes.
The rising Season 1 star was left for dead in the dying seconds of the Season 1 finale, after suffering a gunshot attack in his car. A tragic end for the young rapper with a meteoric rise, especially since his interpreter, Hatik, rapper and actor, had marked the public with his nervous and sensitive performance.
In a newspaper interview The Parisian, Franck Gastambide, creator and director of the series (in which he also plays the beatmaker Dj Sno), explained this strong dramaturgical choice which surprised everyone, from the channel to the production through his team of co-writers .
“I didn’t want to tell the story of Apash, who is going well, who is not doing well, then who is making a second album. In fact, the strongest thing is the rise of this guy told in the first season … and that he dies killed like Tupac, like a legend. I wanted to provoke emotion. I chose not to leave any doubt about Apash’s death and until the last moment, people had it, it means that we did our job well.“, he explains.
A radical choice which however greatly disappointed Hatik, who had invested heavily in the role of Clément, alias Apash. “His disappointment was linked to the investment he put into the series. He worked, he gave a lot and obviously that’s not how he saw the future, but he’s a smart boy and he knows that Valide helped launch his career. “
Invited in the program Le Code de Medhi Maïzi, the director recognized the disappointment that the young man had felt when he discovered that his character was not going to appear in the rest of the series. “Before he knew it was a good idea, I think he also had that moment where he was like “what did I do wrong? I worked, I got everything given … “and it’s normal that he thought that.“
In addition, Franck Gastambide also pointed out that despite the success of the series, whose season 2 totaled more than a million views a few hours after it was posted on the myCANAL platform, a third season was perhaps not not on the agenda.
“For now, I need to change the universe and there will be no Season 3 of Validated. After the phenomenal success of season 1 I had to go back but I can’t be that guy who will spend his life doing Validate, I need to explore other things“he revealed to the site Cnews. The director is in fact finalizing the writing of his next film, a big budget action comedy.
As for Hatik, who now devotes himself 100% to his musical career, he would be preparing a featuring with rapper Chilla, according to Mov ‘. An interesting parallel with the main theme of season 2 of Validé, which highlights the place of women in French rap.
