For her sixth feature film, “Aline”, Valérie Lemercier plays Celine Dion, or rather Aline Dieu, from 5 to 50 years old. To make this possible, the actress and director used a very specific technique.
In Aline, Valérie Lemercier is not content only to play her character in adulthood, she embodies it from her childhood. To create the illusion, she worked with MIKROS, a French company specializing in visual effects. After the interview with the actress and director – to find here – the team ofAlloCine wanted to learn more about the process used and went to meet supervisor Sébastien Rame.
Presented at the 74th Cannes film festival, out of competition, Aline is Valérie Lemercier’s sixth film and perhaps his most ambitious. With a lot of freedom, she is inspired by the life of Céline Dion and tells the fate of a singer, Aline Dieu, from her beginnings in Quebec to her heyday around the world. The actress is surrounded by Danielle Fichaud and Sylvain Marcel, two Quebec performers, who play respectively the mother and the manager of the star, Guy-Claude.
