After 4 weeks at the top of the US box office, Shang-Chi gives way to another Marvel-branded feature film: Venom: Let There Be Carnarge!

TO REMEMBER
One Marvel is chasing another! After 4 weeks at the top of the American box office, Shang-Chi gives way to Venom 2 ! The supervillain played by Tom Hardy has accumulated more than $ 90 million in revenue. It thus sets a new record for a start since the Covid pandemic.
The work is notably ahead of Black Widow (60M), Fast and Furious 9 (70M) and Shang-Chi (75M). In October 2018, Venom had achieved a 1st weekend at 80.3 million in a completely different context. The second part therefore scores better despite the circumstances.
A sequel is also invited to the top of the ranking. The Addams Family 2, family animated film, earns $ 18 million. Note that the 1st opus of The Addams Family had totaled 30.3 M during its 1st weekend, in October 2019. As for Shang-Chi, he is relegated to the 3rd step of the podium. The feature film worn by Simu Liu takes the opportunity to pass the $ 200 million mark raised.
In 4th position, Many Saints of Newark, prequel to the cult series The Sopranos, made a shy start with 5 small millions in its purse. Yes Free Guy, Candyman and Jungle Cruise are maintained, 2 small surprises come to interfere in the classification. The first is the documentary The Jesus Music, a new avatar of these Christian films which flourish from time to time on American screens without arriving in our regions.
With $ 560,000 in revenue, it ranks ahead of French Cannes sensation, the Palme d’Or Titanium ($ 516,000). A nice start for Julia Ducournau’s film, which is likely to benefit from favorable word-of-mouth. By comparison, the director’s debut feature, Grave, debuted as Raw at nearly $ 25,000 in March 2017, ending her American career at $ 515,000.
