Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to reign supreme at the US box office ahead of All On Stage 2 which posts strong results, unlike The King’s Man: First Mission which closes the podium with a low score.
Spider-Man continues to excel! With an additional $ 52.7 million, Spider-Man: No Way Home has now brought in 609 million greenbacks across the Atlantic, becoming the 10th biggest hit in history. The film worn by Tom Holland took the place of the Incredibles 2 (608 million) and could, in time, overtake Star Wars: The Last Jedi (620 million) and Avengers (623 million).
Globally, No Way Home just crossed $ 1.37 billion, making it the 12th biggest hit of all time, just ahead of another Marvel movie, Black Panther (1.34 billion).
In second place at the US box office, we find All in scene 2 which garners an additional $ 19.6 million for a total of $ 89.6 million. A rather impressive result in these troubled times of the pandemic. On the other hand, the following feature films do not shine by their performance, having all brought in less than 5 million greenbacks this weekend …
The King’s Man: First Mission hasn’t even hit $ 20 million in revenue yet and Matrix Resurrections (who moved from 3rd to 5th place in the standings) only added $ 3.8 million to his total. Lana Wachowski’s film thus shows a vertiginous drop of 64% compared to its first weekend of exploitation.
In addition, according to Comscore, American cinemas garnered 4.4 billion dollars in 2021. This is an increase of 91% compared to 2020, a year obviously marked by the start of the Covid crisis. But that’s a 61% decrease from 2019, the last year considered normal at the box office.
