After the commercial and critical failure of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft is turning the page and will no longer supply its game with new content. The servers will nevertheless be maintained.

It had to happen one day: Ubisoft is ending content updates for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. An opus which is very far from having shone since the editor himself recognized a critical and commercial failure.

You can move on

Despite the flop, the game lasted more than two years, but after more than 11 updates and a few initiatives, it’s over!

The last four months have marked the release of our latest content : the brand new Operation Motherland mode, full of new items including iconic outfits for the 20th anniversary and Quartz items for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. We will maintain our servers for Wildlands and Breakpointand we sincerely hope that you will continue to enjoy the game and enjoy playing it solo or in co-op with your friends.

Ubisoft stops tracking the game

As said above, sales and returns were significantly below Ubisoft’s expectations, which however assumed that it had missed its target. During an assessment, Yves Guillemot had identified negative factors such as an exit too close to Wildlands, wobbly novelties, few elements of differentiation and a concern for finishing. But that was in the short term, because the title also tarnished its reputation because of too much greed.

First there was the rollback on microtransactions, as well as the failed attempt at NFTs in software with Ubisoft Quartz. Two features that will only have contributed to sinking Ghost Recon Breakpoint further.

If you still want to get an idea, this opus is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The franchise will write the rest of its history with Frontline, a free-to-play battle royale.
