Despite years behind schedule, Skull & Bones finally seems to be on the right track. Ubisoft Singapore is also looking for players to try out the title.
After years of chaotic development, Skull & Bones finally seems to be on the right track. Indeed, Ubisoft has just launched a campaign to recruit players to test the game. As we can see on the official website the French publisher has set up an Insider program that will allow selected players to get their hands on a pre-alpha version of the game, while the developers will get valuable feedback.
To your good heart
As the description explains, Ideal candidates are Skull and Bones fans who are passionate about game development and have plenty of time to spend testing and reporting issues, bugs, or just general feedback. This requires a great deal of patience and commitment and, above all, strict adherence to a confidentiality agreement and Ubisoft code of conduct.”
Remember that Skull & Bones was announced at E3 2017 (at the same time as Steep, The Crew 2, or even Starlink for example), and that it still does not have a release date. Initially, it was to capitalize on the success of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag naval battles. The game then promised to explore the Indian Ocean in coop or solo via a scripted campaign.
Skull & Bones: finally head above water?
After years of wanderings and a complete reboot in 2020, the game has been put back on track, Ubisoft having even promised a release during the next fiscal year (which will end on March 31, 2023) on the occasion of the last balance sheet financial. According to Frédérick Duguet (CFO of Ubisoft) who spoke on this occasion, the game would now be a purely multiplayer experience that takes place in a huge open-world, which is rather in line with the strategic orientation of the publisher.
We must therefore expect a new game as a service, knowing that according to the information that Tom Henderson shared in September 2021, the title would now be survival-oriented, the player starting the game with a simple raft.
