Wesley Snipes and Kevin Hart. Here is a beautiful duet for the Netflix series “True Story” which has just unveiled its first trailer. A series that promises to be intense and dramatic.

true story : Wesley Snipes continues his comeback

Before finding himself embroiled in sordid court cases, Wesley Snipes is a strong figure in the action films of the 90s. Indeed, the one that was revealed in 1987 via the clip Bad by Michael Jackson subsequently lined up very muscular films. Among them, we can thus note Passenger 57, Demolition Man, Drop Zone, Money Train, White House Murder or even US Marshals. Apart from action films, the actor has also dabbled in other genres, such as comedy (Mo ‘Better Blues, White people can’t jump, Extravagance), the drama (Jungle Fever, For one night) or the thriller (The King of New York, New Jack City, The Fan).

However, the actor knows his heyday when he plays the superhero Blade, in the eponymous trilogy. The first film, released in 1998, also enjoyed commercial success which paved the way for the many superhero films that would follow.

However, in the mid-2000s, the African-American actor was caught by the tax authorities, following false statements. He was then sentenced in April 2008 to 3 years in prison for tax evasion. Obviously, this conviction puts a big brake on his career. In 2014, he got back to talking about himself by joining the plethora of old glories of action films with Expendables 3. Above all, at the end of the 2010s, he found the favor of critics via streaming with on one side Dolemite is my Name (on Netflix) and the other A Prince in New York 2 (on Amazon). Let us say it to ourselves: Wesley Snipes is back!

A series on blood ties

With true story, Wesley Snipes collaborates with Netflix again, two years later Dolemite is my name. He will share the poster with Kevin Hart who also stood out on the platform with An outstanding dad (which was a hit on the platform in 2021). In view of the first images (video at the top of the article), the series imagined by Eric Newman (Narcos, Narcos: Mexico) will be very far from funny, and this, despite its two headliners.

Indeed, true story will follow Kid (Kevin Hart), a famous comedian who returns to his native Philadelphia. There, he finds his older brother (Wesley Snipes) whom he had lost sight of for years. Unfortunately, this reunion will be announced as the beginning of the problems for Kid.

As the trailer reveals, Kevin Hart will once again abandon his role as clown character, to which he has so often accustomed us. After An outstanding dad, the actor will unveil another deep and dramatic composition. As for Wesley Snipes, he seems to continue his momentum from his latest productions. true story in any case promises a beautiful reflection on blood ties, thanks to the presence of two immensely talented actors.

We will still have to be a little patient, because the series will be available from the November 24 on Netflix.
