Johnny and Daniel join forces!
As Netflix releases the first official trailer for season five, “Cobra Kai” sees action once again in the dojo. The fifth season after last season’s All Valley Karate Tournament reveals that Terry Silver, who now has full control of Cobra Kai, plans to expand the dojo throughout the San Fernando Valley. If Terry is left unchecked, he and his Cobra Kai teachers will spread wild forms of karate like wildfire.
Kreese is behind bars and Johnny Lawrence puts karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, while Daniel LaRusso chooses to team up with his old nemesis to take down Terry. “Cobra Kai” follows the lives of Daniel (Ralph Macchio), Johnny (William Zabka), their families and their karate students 30 years after the events of the 80s “Karate Kid” series.
Actors reprising their roles in “Cobra Kai” from the original series include Martin Kove as John Kreese, Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, Randee Heller as Lucille LaRusso, and Yuji Okumoto as Chozen Toguchi. It also stars Tanner Buchanan, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Courtney Henggeler, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio and Rose Bianco. “Cobra Kai” was originally released as a YouTube Premium original series in 2018, but was later acquired by Netflix in 2020 after YouTube stopped producing original scripted content.
Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are the creators and executive producers of the series through Counterbalance Entertainment. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka also serve as executive producers along with Will Smith, James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Susan Ekins. Sony Pictures Television is producing the series. The fifth season of “Cobra Kai” will premiere on Netflix on September 9.
