Sony Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming mystery thriller “Where the Crawdads Sing” (“Swamp Girl”). The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, who recently starred in the horror/comedy movie “Fresh” with Sebastian Stan.
Directed by Olivia Newman, the film is based on the bestselling novel by Delia Owens. Lucy Alibar wrote the script for the movie.
“Where the Crawdads Sing,” tells the story of an abandoned girl living in the swamps of a small town. In Barkley Cove, a small town in North Carolina, wild rumors arise about a “swamp girl”. Kya, who at the age of ten had to learn to live in the swamp after being abandoned by her parents, is not the wild girl it is said to be. His life is changed forever when he meets Tate, who teaches him to read and write and introduces him to poetry. However, Tate soon leaves her. After all this time, Kya is seen as the prime suspect in Tate’s death.
The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson, and David Strathairn. The original song of the movie is by Taylor Swift.
“Where the Crawdads Sing” will hit theaters on August 5.
