Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, and Adria Arjona share the lead roles in the present-day adaptation of the 1991 movie “Father of the Bride”.
The first trailer has been shared for “Father of the Bride,” a remake of HBO Max’s 1991 movie “Father of the Bride” starring Diane Keaton and Steve Martin. This time, Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan will play panicked parents in the story, which has been updated to reflect the world we live in.
The trailer shows a young woman named Sofia (Adria Arjona) giving her parents the surprise of their lives by telling her parents, Billy (Garcia) and Ingrid (Estafan), that she is engaged to her short-term boyfriend, Adan (Diego Boneta).
Tensions begin to build when Billy, the head of a traditional Cuban-American family, insists on paying for the wedding and keeping up with many longstanding traditions. While the young couple’s marriage preparations continue, Billy and Ingrid, who is actually about to divorce, try to hide this news until the wedding is over.
Directed by Gaz Alazraki, the screenplay was penned by Matt Lopez. The screenplay is based on the novel of the same name by Edward Streeter, as in previous adaptations.
“Father of the Bride”, which also includes names such as Isabela Merced, Enrique Murciano, Macarena Achaga, Ana Fabrega, and Chloe Fineman, will meet with the audience on June 16.
