Tom Cruise has achieved just about everything that can be achieved in Hollywood. Not only do he have three Oscar nominations, but at the age of 60 he is considered to be perhaps the last big action star in the dream factory, who not only regularly revolutionizes blockbuster cinema with unprecedented stunts – but also performs them himself. And with “Top Gun 2: Maverick” he finally has a film in his impressive vita that was able to bring in over a billion dollars.
And if there shouldn’t be another Oscar nomination for his return as flying ace Maverick, then all the more cash. As has now become known, Tom Cruise is likely to use the “Top Gun”-Sequel by Joseph Kosinski (“Tron: Legacy”, “Oblivion”) end up making a lot of money. Right, a lot of money. His fee of 12.5 million dollars is quite impressive. But that’s not allhow now a report of puck sets out.
As a result, if Paramount ends up earning at least $125 million from the film, Cruise will receive a 10 percent royalty on those profits. That means loud puck already now that Tom Cruise can prepare for a really fat payday.
Because studios and cinemas usually split the income 50/50. In the case of the $1.119 billion that has already been raised, that means that milestone has long been reached – and people are still running in droves for “Top Gun: Maverick“ to the cinemas! It can therefore be assumed that several million more will be added.
Should “Top Gun 2” grossed $1.2 billion (which is totally realistic), after taxes, Tom Cruise would get about $55 million in addition to the $12.5 million fee.
And while it’s even conceivable that the film might end up with $1.3 or $1.4 billion at the box office, it still wasn’t. It is assumed that Cruise’s contract also contains certain clauses that would mean additional distributions – such as the achievement of certain milestones – to the main actor. There is even talk of a total of 100 million dollars, which is possible, because even after the cinema evaluation it wasn’t that yet…
Not to be forgotten is the home cinema evaluation of “Top Gun: Maverick’, in which Cruise is also involved.

Because even though the immersive flying adventure is of course primarily made for the cinema, for the largest screen and the best sound system, both the success at the box office and the outstanding reviews speak a clear language:
“Top Gun: Maverick” is a rousing, big popcorn cinema to experience again and again – and so it would not surprise us if the film were to end up on the throne of the home cinema charts at the end of the year, both in Germany and internationally. After James Bond, who topped the sales charts with “No time to die” in 2021, the next hero with a cult factor could outstrip Marvel and Co.…
