The Goonies (1985)
We continue the adventure with The Goonies by Richard Donner. Produced and imagined by Steven Spielberg and scripted by Chris Columbus, this film featuring adventurous children was a real success. So much so that today it is considered a cult film.
It all starts in Astoria, a peaceful port city on the West Coast. Too peaceful for Michael aka “Mickey” (Sean Astin), Richard “Data” (Jonathan Ke Quan), Laurent “Choco” (Jeff Cohen) and Clark “Bagou” (Corey Feldman). It was then that the four friends found a treasure map leading to the pirate Willy the One-eyed. Knowing that their neighborhood is about to be razed by a real estate developer, the little band decides to go in search of the treasure. Soon joined by Brandon “Brand” (Josh Brolin), Mickey’s brother, as well as Andrea “Andy” (Kerri Green) and Stephanie “Steph” (Martha Plimpton), the basic quartet gives way to Goonies. An adventure as crazy as it is sassy carried by a foolproof friendship in which any child would have dreamed of participating !
Stand by Me
One year later (1986) came out Stand by me by Rob Reiner, based on the eponymous title of the song by Ben E. King. This is the adaptation of the new The body by Stephen King, published in 1982 in the collection Different seasons. No horrific, supernatural or fantastic feature, however, but a drama that draws adventurous children in its wake.

However the young Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton) and his friends Chris (River Phoenix), Teddy (Corey Feldman) and Vern (Jerry O’Connel) already know that he is no longer of this world. Indeed, Vern’s brother discovered him deep in the woods after a train obviously hit him. He would have come too close to the railroad tracks. Eager to know their moment of glory by making the headlines, and why not a passage on TV, the group of friends decides to take credit for this discovery. They set off in search of the corpse on a road strewn with pitfalls and disillusionment. Between quest for recognition and incomparable friendship, an adventure film tinged with poetry, among other things on the notion of life and death.
