We take stock of the novelties of August and the current series to be discovered on Netflix, Canal +, OCS, Amazon or from the United States. This month, the program is quite small but we were still able to shoot a few series that are worth it!
Umbrella Academy season 2 – from July 31 on Netflix
The story of Umbrella Academy :
When their father dies, brothers and sisters with extraordinary powers uncover traumatic family secrets and a terrible threat looming over humanity.
The teaser :
Why watch: The first season was setting the universe up well and we’re waiting to see how season 2 unfolds. Given that in the next episodes we will see the different characters being scattered over time. A good idea that should help maintain interest in the series.
The Fugitive – from August 3 on Quibi
The story of Tea Fugitive :
Los Angeles. Following a bomb attack on a subway train, worker Mike Russo, who was on board with his family, is accused of being the perpetrator of the terrorist act. With his life and the lives of those close to him on hold, Mike must find the real perpetrator of this malicious act before legendary police officer Clay Bryce apprehends him …
The teaser :
Why watch: Although the Quibi series have so far struggled to get noticed, on paper projects often look interesting. There, it is especially the fact of finding Kiefer Sutherland in a role “à la 24 hours flat“since he will be the policeman who stalks Mike Ferro (Boyd Holbrook). Enough to take a look.
The 100 season 7 (continued) – starting August 5 on The CW
The story of The 100 :
After a man-made apocalypse during a third world war, the 318 recorded survivors take refuge in space stations and manage to live and reproduce there, reaching the number of 4000. But 97 years later, the spaceship mother, The Ark, is in terrible shape. A hundred young delinquents imprisoned over the years for crimes or betrayals are chosen as guinea pigs by the authorities to come back down to Earth and test the chances of survival. In season 7, the adventure continues on the new world, Sanctum and Planet Alpha.
Episode 10 trailer:
Why watch: Although Season 7 debuted several weeks ago on The CW in the United States, the channel took a hiatus after a tense Episode 9. The sequel will see Clarke come face to face with new enemies as she tries to bring her friends back on the right track. With season 7 being the last, every episode is now being scrutinized with interest.
The story of Lovecraft Country :
In the racist America of the 1950s, Atticus Black, a young man of 25, embarks with his friend Letitia and his uncle George on a road trip in search of his missing father. On the road, they meet fantastic monsters, as well as very real monsters …
The teaser :
Why watch: Because behind Lovecraft Country There are two names in the production that we no longer present: Jordan Peele and JJ Abrams. With them on board, and HBO for the broadcast, we can expect a quality series that should make an impression, as the trailer attests.
Miracle Workers season 2- from August 18 on Warner TV
The Story of Miracle Workers season 2:
In very difficult times in medieval times, villagers struggled to remain optimistic despite steep income inequalities, deplorable health and widespread ignorance.
The teaser :
Why watch: Originally Warner TV was to broadcast season 2 of Miracle Workers in April, but due to the pandemic, it is only from August 18 that we can find Daniel Radcliffe in this very good comedy. If the first season took us to paradise, the second will therefore take place in the Middle Ages with an always offbeat tone.
Biohackers – from August 20 on Netflix
The story of Biohackers :
Enrolled in medicine to get closer to a professor she thinks involved in her own family tragedy, Mia finds herself immersed in the world of biohacking.
The teaser :
Why watch: There are so far a lot of questions about Biohackers. The series promises to be full of mystery and we are always curious to see what is being done elsewhere than in the United States or in France. Here it is a German series created by Christian Ditter, director of Single, instructions for use.
Lucifer season 5 – from August 21 on Netflix
The story of Lucifer :
Tired and unhappy with his position as “Lord of the Underworld”, Lucifer Morningstar resigns and abandons the throne of his kingdom for the bubbling and no less impure …
