Naruto, the cult manga of Masashi Kishimoto was entitled to an adaptation via two animation series. The second, “Naruto Shippuden” which covers the 3-year chronological ellipse in the manga, has 500 episodes. Here are the most striking.
Episode 133: Story of the Heroic Jiraiya
More than a 3-year ellipse, this second part of Naruto’s adventures sounds like the beginning of much more adult themes. The complexity of geopolitics, preparation for war, and of course … The death. It is therefore in Naruto Shippuden that we will have to resolve to see the disappearance of characters that are dear to us and that we were used to being around for a good hundred episodes (or more).
If Asuma’s death had already moved viewers, what can we say about that of Jiraiya? Before his fight with Pain, who could have imagined that Konoha’s legendary ninja would disappear like this? Defeated by his former student after a fight among the most beautiful in the series, the perverse hermit sinks sadly in the depths of the waters, and with a smile. Gorgeous !
Episode 162: The World Will Know Suffering
What if this episode was the best of the series? Konoha has often been threatened by outside forces. We remember, for example, Orochimaru’s attack on his native village. However, nothing prepared us for this sublime image where Pain, like a God, unleashes an overpowering attack that will completely raze the village. In this setting of the end of the world, the series however recalls that it remains a shonen since a few minutes later, Naruto will appear in the most badass way possible, ready to do battle with the leader of the Akatsuki. There are no words to describe this episode as it makes us go through various emotions.
Episode 321: Arrival of Reinforcements
In this 321st episode, we are therefore in the Fourth Great Ninja War. The alliance ninjas are in a bad position against the White Zetsus who take the appearance of their own to fight. Fortunately, Naruto and his clones arrive at the various strategic points of the battle and wreak havoc in the enemy ranks.
It is then that Kabuto will release his last asset with a new reincarnation of a powerful ninja, able to pose difficulties to the Alliance. And it will be neither more nor less than … Madara Uchiha! A news all the more surprising as Tobi, the masked leader of the Akatsuki, had always claimed that he was Madara Uchiha. If he’s not who he claims to be, so who is he really ? It is this question that will fuel the craziest fan theories for several months.
Episode 364: Related
Of all the deaths in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, it is undoubtedly the death of Neji which will have caused the most ink to flow. Indeed, the prodigy of the Hyuga clan was a character immensely appreciated by fans of the work. They were also frustrated that he was also underexposed in the 2nd part of the series, while it was already established that he was an extremely powerful and respected ninja.
His death happens in a totally unexpected way since nothing had prepared us for his disappearance. As a symbol, the parallel branch ninja will protect the main branch ninja who is his cousin Hinata, future wife of Naruto. And as a symbol, his death will further strengthen the determination of our hero to defeat its opponents.
Episode 476: The Last Fight
After a tough fight for the survival of the world, Naruto’s adventures could not end without a final confrontation between the future Hokage and his eternal rival Sasuke. Taking place in the same place as their first confrontation, the fight begins in a dantesque way. So, again, the animation works wonders by starting the confrontation in a very old-school way: no music, and two ninjas fighting like ninjas. without necessarily resorting to their superhuman powers. High class !
If you want to watch these episodes again, be aware that Naruto Shippuden is available in full on ADN.
