If there is one manga that marked the 2000s so much that we don’t even present it anymore, it’s “Naruto”. Masashi Kishimoto’s cult manga has seen two animated adaptations produced by Studio Pierrot between 2002 and 2017. The first, “Naruto” contains 220 episodes. Here are the most striking.
Naruto Episode 1: And this is Naruto Uzumaki
The first episode of Naruto introduces us to the retro-futuristic ninja universe of the series. We thus discover Naruto, a young pre-adolescent orphan who accumulates nonsense in the shinobi village of Konoha. His dream : become Hokage (village chief recognized to be also the most powerful ninja) so that the villagers recognize his value. However, the main concern is that the young blond is feared and hated by the locals. Indeed, he has in him a demon-fox (Kyubi) which ravaged the village 12 years ago. Since then, the people no longer distinguish between Kyubi and him.
This first episode therefore manages to attach us quickly to our protagonist. The codes of the shonen are followed to the letter, with an honest and naive hero who demonstrates extraordinary powers. We can also see that he is supported and loved (here by his teacher Iruka) which will push him to strengthen his will to defeat his first enemy in a clash. Short, Naruto begins…
Episode 8: The Promise of Blood
After a few episodes which present important secondary characters (Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi) the series finally gets to the heart of the matter with a first dangerous antagonist: Zabuza, deserter ninja. For the first time, our heroes find themselves in a risky position.
Especially since in this episode, team 7 is quickly deprived of their sensei Kakashi. Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura will then have to fend for themselves to ensure the mission. This is howUzumaki and Uchiha will join forces to adopt an effective strategy to put Zabuza in trouble. A first when we know that the two young boys cannot stand each other.
An eighth episode punctuated by clashes and twists, therefore.
Episode 50: The Game of Death
Many fans will tell you that they have definitely fallen in love with the work. after this confrontation between Gaara and Rock Lee. This final confrontation, counting for the preliminary matches before the start of the third round of the chunin exams, sees two styles of fighting totally opposed. deliver techniques never seen before in the series.
This 50th episode is the highlight of the show since Bruce Lee’s fictional lookalike will release his ultimate attack: the opening of the fifth door! This technique which will transform him almost physically into a demon, makes him reach a speed and a totally inhuman power. We can only congratulate the fluidity of the animation which will highlight the madness of this devastating attack. With this 50th episode, the anime is clearly turning a corner.
Episode 79: The Final Blow
Although Naruto either an anime that respects very little the laws of physics, we had so far clashes between ninjas with kunai, shuriken and magical powers. However, the confrontation between Gaara and Naruto is unprecedented since, this time, monsters get involved.
To see Gamabunta and Shukaku almost destroy the forest is spectacular and awe-inspiring. We understand then that the danger is indeed present in this universe, and that characters are capable of reducing an entire country to ashes.
In addition, Gaara and Naruto’s hand-to-hand combat is beneficial. As well as being epic, it underlines that no matter what, this kind of conflict will always end up being resolved. on a “human” scale.
Episode 134: Conclusion Under a Shower of Tears
The main flaw of the animated series is that it often punctuates its narrative with long flashbacks and flashbacks. Unfortunately, the long-awaited fight between Naruto and Sasuke was no exception to this rule. It was therefore necessary to wait for the last two episodes before following this confrontation without it being interrupted by haunting memories.
This 134th episode is not only marked by its always flawless animation, but above all by its multiple symbols. In this confrontation, the two ninjas have nothing physically human left. However, their childish spirit still subsists in them. Since then, the Naruto / Sasuke rivalry will literally unleash passions.
