When it comes to Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, we often talk about the infamous post-credits scenes that keep the viewer in their seat, even after the movie is over. We talk less about its end credits which have improved over the years, demonstrating the studio’s ability to captivate audiences to the end.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
When the Russo brothers took over the sequel to Captain america, nobody expected them to compose a superhero movie that blended perfectly with the conspiratorial thrillers of the 70s. The mere presence of Robert Redford in the cast was proof of that. The credits of this Captain America: The Winter Soldier is therefore faithful to the film, with its deliberately pompous musical theme, its Chinese shadows presenting the cast, and its graphic reminiscent of spy comics. The result is graphically stunning.
It’s no secret: the first two parts of Thor were not unanimous. Indeed, if the presence of Chris Hemsworth in God of Thunder pleased, his films did not do him justice. The arrival of Taika Waititi in this third episode has therefore changed the situation, since in addition to garnering fabulous scores at the box office, he was finally able to put the critics in agreement. It is true that Thor: Ragnarok is very colorful, reminiscent of the comic pages Flash Gordon. The end credits go in this direction, while adding music reminiscent of old arcade video games.
Phenomenon of the year 2018, Black panther especially has the privilege of being the first feature film of the MCU to be nominated for the Oscar for best film. If its script structure is fairly classic, the film has made an impression thanks to the magnificent sets, costumes perfectly representative of those worn in certain African countries, and especially thanks to the charisma of the late Chadwick Boseman. Marked by a generally purple colorimetry, the end credits have some similarities with that of Thor: Ragnarok. However, we can only bow to the song All The Stars, performed by rapper Kendrick Lamar, well accompanied by singer SZA.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
The two films of the saga Ant-Man have this particularity of knowing exactly what they are: transition films before much larger MCU episodes (Captain America: Civil War for the first, Avengers Endgame for the second). These feature films therefore have very little ambition, except to entertain their audience by adding a certain dose of levity in the face of much more serious events taking place in this universe. This is why the end credits ofAnt-Man and the Wasp is also great because it has managed to capture the very essence of the film: a huge playground to have fun like children. It is therefore not trivial that the cast is presented as action figures.
With this film, one could not hope for a more beautiful conclusion to the adventures of the Avengers against their enemy Thanos. We therefore have 2h30 to unwind, concluded with a Dantesque final battle in which all the heroes we have seen for 11 years unite to fight the dangerous Titan. The emotion is palpable, especially since this victory is marred by a painful sacrifice. This end creditsAvengers Endgame therefore serves as a best-of and thanks to all these characters as well as the actors who interpret them. It puts especially in close-up the five original Avengers, with in conclusion the inevitable Robert Downey Jr / Iron Man, the one thanks to whom it all started in 2008. Fabulous!
