In “Tomorrow Never Dies”, Pierce Brosnan and Teri Hatcher are two former lovers who experience a brief but passionate reunion. A connection a thousand miles from the relationship between the interpreter of James Bond and his partner, who had trouble supporting each other.

Tomorrow never dies : Pierce Brosnan passes the second

After the success of GoldenEye, Pierce Brosnan is back in the James Bond tuxedo with Tomorrow never dies. While Bruce Feirstein signs the screenplay again – the plot of which is not based on an Ian Fleming novel, Roger Spottiswoode (Under Fire, Hike for a Killer) succeeds Martin Campbell as director, the latter not wanting to go on to a second film in the franchise.

In this 18e license feature film, James Bond attacks press mogul. After a stealth ship sinks a Royal Navy liner, the British threaten China with a retaliation, believing that the country’s forces are behind the attack. The powerful media group CMGN then communicates on imminent nuclear conflict, under the leadership of its leader Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce).

In order to consolidate his influence, Carver actually sponsored the offensive. But in his senseless quest for power, the megalomaniac forgot to anticipate two things: 007 and Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh), a spy for Chinese intelligence.

Judi Dench, Colin Salmon, Joe Don Baker, Julian Fellowes and Teri Hatcher complete the cast of this album that knows complicated production. Faced with pressure from MGM, filming began when the script was not finished and underwent many rewrites. Conditions which cause the departure of Anthony Hopkins. The actor slams the door of the project in which he was supposed to play the antagonist.

A complicated experience for Teri Hatcher

When the shootings begin, Jonathan Pryce has not yet inherited the role of Elliot Carver. Teri Hatcher did not get that of her partner Paris, who had a complicated affair with James Bond. A character for which Monica Bellucci auditions. But the studio prefers the actress known for Tango & Cash and the series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. A decision deplored by Pierce Brosnan, who goes so far as to describe the members of the MGM as “idiots”.

The star admits not having got on with Teri Hatcher, pregnant during the filming. Asked by the Italian version of Vanity Fair, the actor says he was hard on his partner and furious because of his lack of punctuality. He declares in particular:

I was very angry with her. She always made me wait for hours. I have to admit I blurted out a few words that weren’t very kind. We learned one morning that Teri was pregnant and was not feeling very well. These are things that happen.

A rumor also asserts that Teri Hatcher would have slapped the interpreter of James Bond, which the latter denies, quoted by theIrish Examiner. The actress does not care anyway not a very good memory of this experience, which she deems unrewarding. It ensures on this subject:

He is such an artificial character to play that we derive no particular satisfaction from it.

After Tomorrow never dies, the actress is experiencing a slump. Until her return to the front of the stage in the skin of Susan Mayer, one of the heroines of Desperate Housewives.
