“Tokyo Vice” is one of the most anticipated series since Michael Mann directs the first episode. The show is barely revealed with a first image, and a broadcast date is finally announced.
Michael Mann is back soon
It’s been seven years since we last saw a film by Michael Mann on the big screen. Seven years since the release of Hacker, his eleventh feature film. Either the longest period of scarcity for fans of the director of Heat and Miami vice. And in the absence of a new film, it will first be necessary to “settle” for a series with Tokyo vice. The filmmaker is indeed back on the small screen, more than ten years later Luck (2011). For the purposes of this show scheduled for HBO MaxMichael Mann directed only the first episode (and provided an executive producer role). Enough to, we hope, set the tone for the series and thus create a real craze.
Tokyo Vice is an adaptation of the story of Jake Adelstein, an American journalist who managed to infiltrate the yakuza networks of Japan. In the casting, we will find in particular Ansel Elgort and Ken Watanabe. These are precisely the two actors that can be distinguished on the first image finally unveiled.
When will Tokyo Vice air?
It’s obviously still very meager to get an idea of what awaits us. But we already feel a tense atmosphere with the two performers in a bus in the middle of the police. This still offers a little teaser while waiting for a first trailer. And above all, in addition to this image, a release date was finally announced. We, therefore, learn that Tokyo’s vice will be to discover April 7 on HBO Max.
The problem for France, the platform is not yet available. It is unclear who will collect the broadcast rights. Generally, this is between Warner TV, Canal+ and OCS, or even Salto for exceptional programs like Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts. In any case, we hope that a chain will quickly be placed on it, unlike Peacemakercurrently broadcast on HBO Max but absent from French channels.
