The Norwegian director Roar Uthaug directed the Hollywood blockbuster Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander ($275 million worldwide gross). The streaming original “Troll”, which will soon be released exclusively on Netflix, has already been turned off and whose first teaser trailer promises a spectacular fantasy spectacle:
But even more interesting are actually the films he before filmed in his native Norway after his jump to Hollywood. After all, he attracted international attention early in his career with his genre hits, which were surprisingly big considering the manageable size of the Norwegian film sector: His horror slasher “Cold Prey – Eiskalter Tod” really doesn’t have to be like that in terms of production values hide from US competition…

… and his spectacular catastrophe blockbuster “The Wave – Die Todeswelle” hit international – please excuse the pun – even such high waves that the film was seriously traded for an Oscar nomination. No wonder with the madness effects that Roar Uthaug squeezed out of a comparatively manageable budget here:
Tele5 is now showing the film tonight (July 2) from 10:05 p.m Roar Uthaug filmed between “Cold Prey” and “The Wave” – and that’s also worth seeing, at least if you’re into medieval action: “Escape – Legacy of the Vikings” is crisp genre entertainment not only because of its running time of only 76 minutes …
… already on the DVD packaging the film is accompanied by the historical series “Outlander’ and in the reviews it was repeatedly measured against the almost simultaneously published ‘The Hunger Games’ due to the teenager-with-a-bow theme, whereby the Hollywood blockbuster often drew the short straw.

This is what Escape: Viking Legacy is all about: Ten years after the plague devastated the country, a family on a remote mountain pass is ambushed by the outlaw Dagmar (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) and her gang of thieves. Almost everyone dies, only 19-year-old Signe (Isabel Christine Andreasen) survives. The young woman is captured and kidnapped.
In the robber camp she is supposed to serve as a substitute sister for Dagmar’s daughter Frigg (Milla Olin). However, Signe uses the first opportunity to flee. The beginning of a merciless hunt, in which Signe has to surpass himself in order to get rid of her pursuers and finally Dagmar once and for all…
