“Spider-Man 3: No Way Home” pulverized all already high expectations at the box office. The reason why the spider hero’s third solo adventure was even more hyped than its two predecessors is obvious: “Spider-Man 3: No Way Home” transformed the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the introduction of the Multiverse, as we’ve known it upside down – while opening it up to cross-connections to movies outside of the MCU.
Suddenly the villains from Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy (2002 – 2007) and from the two “The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012 + 2014) are playing again – and of course the former Spider-Man actors are also watching Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for a not so short, but actually very central guest performance.
“Spider-Man 2: Far From Home” is on ZDF tonight at 8:15 p.m. (and thus for the first time without advertising on free TV, after the TV premiere took place on ProSieben last year). But even if “Far From Home” is now overshadowed by its successor, one should not forget what the second “Spider-Man” film with Tom Holland has already done for the MCU.
If you miss the date or generally don’t feel like watching films with commercial breaks, you can simply watch “Far From Home” on Amazon Prime Video:

Of course, “Spider-Man 2: Far From Home” isn’t nearly as narratively revolutionary as “Spider-Man 3: No Way Home” – but you shouldn’t underestimate its importance for the MCU. Finally, Far From Home had the important task of proving to all Marvel fans that that even after the bombast finale in “Avengers 4: Endgame” is not yet finished, but on the contrary still has unused ideas in its quiver…
… and that’s exactly what director Jon Watts and the trio Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya did brilliantly! In the very first scenes, the consequences of the blip (= the five-year absence of Thanos’ snapped ones) are brilliantly broken down from an event that shook the entire universe down to a completely human level:
In a school television clip reminiscent of YouTube formats, the current status is reported with a lot of humor, but still not trivializing – after all, the return of the blown away also leads to very practical problems: For example, many orphaned apartments are likely to have been rented out long ago.
And so it continues: A charmingly entertaining first half follows in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” with a second half packed to the brim with high-speed surprises and creative ideas. So even the 23rd MCU blockbuster feels absolutely fresh.
