In “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, the Illuminati make a very brief appearance. But they could become important in the future: via the “Fantastic Four” And unlike what you think, as Marvel expert Sebastian explains in the video:
In “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, the title character, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, encounters the Illuminati on his journey into another world: Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Reed Richards (John Krasinski), Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell ), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), Sorcerer Supreme Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and an unknown seventh person whose chair remains empty make up this group on another earth – and mostly don’t survive very long. Because Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) assassinates her in her hunt for America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez).
So was that it with the Illuminati? Is this the only time we’ve seen her in the MCU? Or is her death even becoming very important? Our Marvel expert Sebastian has some very interesting theories:
founded Doctor Strange Also on Earth-616 the Illuminati?
The Illuminati on Earth-838 is history for now, though of course, there are versions of these characters on other worlds in the multiverse, including MCU-Earth-616.
Of course, many suspects that John Krasinksi as Reed Richards was a test for the planned “Fantastic Four” movie. We could see him there again very soon. And some other characters appear again anyway. For example, Captain Carter is an important part of the second season of “What If…?” and Mordo is still hanging around somewhere in the main universe and forges plans there Doctor Strange.
Of course, if we’re not talking about the individual characters, but about the group itself, then there’s an obvious way to bring the name back. Doctor Strange his recent excursion might have given him the idea that his world should be one too Avengers-Similar, but also more skill-leading team needed. So in the future, he could found the 616 version of the Illuminati – especially with a view to the danger of further incursions mentioned in the credits scene of Clea (Charlize Theron).
Has Marvel Hinted at an Earth-838 Avenger?
But even more interesting is another theory from Sebastian, which he explains in his video: Possibly the death of an Illuminati has a direct impact on future MCU history: Because before Reed Richards’ death, we learn that he has a wife and children. This may just be an Easter egg designed to inform comic book fans about the existence of Sue Storm and Franklin and Valeria Richards, but Marvel could do a lot more with it.
Then Franklin Richards is one of the most powerful Marvel characters — and even can travel across the multiverse. The death of his father could make the boy want revenge. Maybe not very timely, but sometime in the future, Marvel could present Franklin as a surprising threat to our world. Because on the search for his father’s murderer, about whose fate he doesn’t know anything at first, he could attack Earth-616.
Is Marvel already thinking of something like this? Probably not. In an interview with us, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed that he is always amazed at the theories that emerge and often think that these are even better than the actual stories. But even if Marvel doesn’t have the idea yet, you can pick it up later.
Until then, Marvel fans will be busy speculating about every clue – even if it’s often just Easter eggs. Some might lead to something In our opinion, there is a lot to be said for a lead to an epic new MCU event that will be even bigger than the “Infinity War”: “Secret Wars”!
We’ll talk about that in an upcoming video, which Sebastian briefly teases at the end of the current one. First of all, however, it is worth looking at the current one, because in addition to the theories and ideas already explained, you will also learn there how everything with “Loki”, “Moon Knight” and “Ant-Man 3” is connected and there is also brief speculation about the already mentioned free space in the Illuminati tableau.
