It’s one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood history: Henry Cavill returns as Superman – beginning with an appearance in the mid-credit scene of “Black Adam“. And that’s no coincidence, because for Black Adam actor Dwayne Johnson, Cavill’s return was a personal matter in which he had a hand. But as it has now become known, Cavill’s appearance as Superman is not just about a single fight against Black Adam. The plans of The Rock and Co. are much more comprehensive.
“It was never about a single movie or just a fight. No, it’s about so much more,” explained “Black Adam’ producer Hiram Garcia, longtime companion and business partner of Dwayne Johnson Cinema Blend. “We want to create a long storytelling style and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and often interact with each other, either on the same or opposite sides.”
Superman & Black Adam or Superman vs. Black Adam?
That actually also fits with the end credits scene, because even if Black Adam looks pretty dark himself, his counterpart greets him with the words “We should talk.” And like that Black Adam In his solo film, he already did some things in common with the JSA, so that should probably also happen with Superman. For example, we could well imagine that Black Adam and Superman must work together to fight an overwhelming threat.
But of course the two should also be put on a confrontational course, but apparently not directly: “Hopefully they’ll clash too, but it’s not just a one-fight situation. That was never our dream. That’s not rewarding for the fans either. The fans want to feel these guys walking together,” so Garcia.
So if we interpret these statements correctly, there are several films included Black Adam and Superman, in which the two characters meet again and again and occasionally exchange solid arguments. A Black Adam guest appearance in “Man Of Steel 2’, which is now being actively promoted again. A real confrontation or a final duel should only come in the distant future.
Whether these plans can be implemented at all is of course another matter, because Studio Warner will also have a say in this. And Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill also have to find the necessary space in their busy schedules. But if any actor has the clout to push through these ambitious plans, it has to be Dwayne Johnson.
A prerequisite for this is also that “Black Adam“ does not go down at the box office. The first reviews – including our FILMSTARS review – have so far been very mixed, but that doesn’t necessarily have an impact on success or failure…
