4 years after the “Serious” shock which immediately installed Julia Ducournau on the chessboard of French cinema, the director will make her comeback with a second long awaited film. “Titanium” is revealed in a promising first trailer.
Confirmation for Julia Ducournau?
We hear a lot about French genre cinema at the moment, with the combined releases of The Cloud and of Teddy. Next July, during the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held exceptionally in summer, it will still be discussed with Titanium. Julia Ducournau’s new achievement is eagerly awaited in the country, after an excellent Serious. A first shock test, which propelled its author as one of the heads to follow in France.
She will have taken her time before coming back and we hope that she will succeed in confirming all the hopes that have been placed in her. Her presence in Official Competition in Cannes suggests that she has just raised her level and can claim to fight in the big leagues. The public will not even have to wait several months to find out Titanium, since it will be released in theaters on July 14th, when the festival will be taking place.
Titanium : What is it about ?
Information was so far very scarce about the film. Vincent Lindon will play Vincent, a man who finds his son who has been missing for ten years. The little boy was picked up by customs inspectors at an airport. What happened to him all this time? Vincent wants to know and he will realize that disturbing events start to happen shortly after his reunion with his toddler. In the cast, we will also find Agathe Rousselle, Nathalie Boyer, Garance Marillier, Laïs Salameh and Dominique Frot.
Under his fantastic postulate, Serious was carried by strong themes which had an echo in modern society. We expect at least the same from Titanium. Even if it is still difficult to really define what awaits us. So much the better, and the trailer (in an article) comes to enlighten us a little more. We now want to see this second feature film by Julia Ducournau even more. Hoping that she will assert herself for good as the headliner of this new genre cinema made in France.
