Between two films located in the Mad Max universe, George Miller took care of “Three thousand years waiting for you”. In parallel with its presentation at the Cannes Film Festival, this project is revealed in a very attractive trailer.
Three thousand years waiting for you : the new madness of George Miller
In 2015, George Miller returned to live cinema with the explosion Mad Max: Fury Road. A unanimously acclaimed new opus that has relaunched the cult franchise on screens. Such a proposal, which incidentally was a financial success, turns out to be the starting point for something new. A prequel has been set to chronicle Furiosa’s past.
An approach that we understand as the character embodied by Charlize Theron was acclaimed by the public. So much so that she stole the show from Max, the presumed hero of the universe. For this return to the past, Anya Taylor-Joy was chosen to play the role. The feature film has a release date scheduled for May 22, 2024. Before this big production, George Miller wanted to focus on a seemingly smaller project: Three thousand years waiting for you.
The film is described as a kind of fantasy romance, in which Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton share the poster. The first embodies Alithea Binnie, a woman who does not necessarily understand the world around her. This is where the second comes in, in the shoes of a genius. The latter offers him to make three wishes. But Alithea is wary of him because she knows that such an advantage will inevitably bring her a lot of trouble later. As she gets to know the genie, she gets tricked and makes a wish. An intriguing pitch, for this feature film from which we don’t really know what to expect.
A sublime first trailer

George Miller blew everyone away with his formal audacity in Fury Road and it looks like he’s still in great shape with Three thousand years waiting for you. These first images already show sublime plans and we feel a very inspired artistic direction Sometimes. After a passage in Cannes, the feature film will then be visible on French screens on August 24th.
