Shortly after the theatrical release of their breezy collaboration “Top Gun: MaverickDirector Joseph Kosinski hands over his star Miles Teller to Marvel star Chris Hemsworth in the Netflix thriller The Spider’s Head – with devastating consequences.
The opaque visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth) runs a prison that is as modern as it is unconventional. Not only are the inmates relatively free to roam the inviting grounds, but in return for reduced sentences, they undergo questionable experiments with mind-altering drugs that have a number of side effects.
As Abnesti influences the moods of his inmates, newcomers Jeff (Miles Teller) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett) grow closer. But are her burgeoning feelings really her free will, or rather the result of Abnesti’s ever-expanding experiments?
“Top Gun 2” team meets Marvel star & “Deadpool” duo
“The Spider’s Head” is one of the most anticipated Netflix films of 2022. This is partly due to the exciting premise, which goes back to a short story by the writer George Saunders, but above all, of course, to the top-class team in front of and behind the camera. The screenplay based on the said template comes from the “Zombieland” and “Deadpool” authors Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who already in the trailer above also give the science-psycho-thriller a pinch of their usual (black) humor.

Meanwhile, the staging was taken over by “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski, who is here after “No Way Out – Against the Flames” and “Top Gun 2: Maverick” (in theaters May 26, 2022) for the third time working with “Whiplash” drummer Miles Teller. Opposite him is Marvel hero Chris Hemsworth (from July 6, 2022 in “Thor 4: Love And Thunder” again as a god of thunder on the big screen) finally again from a more abysmal side. For him, “The Spider’s Head” could already be the second big Netflix hit after the action thriller “Tyler Rake: Extraction”. We will find out in a month whether this will happen:
The Spider’s Head will be released worldwide on Netflix on June 17, 2022. You can also watch the trailer for the film in the original English below:
