Thor 5: Chris Hemsworth will be back, but on one condition

Chris Hemsworth might just be back in Thor 5 or in future movies Avengers expected within a few years. The actor has one wish, however.

While his brother will soon replace Henry Cavill in the series The Witcher from Netflix, Chris Hemsworth is putting his career on hold. The Australian actor is indeed predisposed to Alzheimer’s and wants to spend more time with his loved ones. A diagnosis which does not condemn him definitively and which will not prevent him from returning to embody Thor in the MCU if he wishes. He also says he is ready to make a new film, but he has one condition.

Chris Hemsworth ready to return to Thor 5

Thor 5 could well see the light of day. Chris Hemsworth is set to return to the role once his hiatus is over. L’announcement of his media withdrawal raised many questions about the future of the character he played in five films Avengers and four solo. The Australian actor shared his thoughts on the matter in an interview with Vanity Fair. His next appearance in the MCU may well be his last, hinting at the death of the God of Thunder. However, he clarified his remarks in the Josh Horowitz Happy podcast, Sad, Confused. He will only return on one condition: that the character of Thor drastically changes.

If we look Thor 1 and 2, it is obvious that they are very similar. Ragnarok and Love and Thunder are too. I think it’s important to reinvent the character. Infinity War and Endgame gave me the unique opportunity to go to extremes with this character. I like it, it keeps the audience alert and it keeps me invested. I’ve said this before, but when something gets too familiar, there’s a risk of succumbing to ease.

Towards a completely different character?

The character of Thor has indeed been the subject of several narrative and stylistic experiments. From the serious and stoic Avenger, Taika Waititi turned him into a hero with a lighter temper and inclined to humor. For the actor, it is crucial to reinvent the God of Thunder so as not to lose the spectators but also his own interest.

I don’t really know if I would come back. But if it was, it would have to be completely different in tone, just to preserve my sanity. In any case, if I am offered something fresh, unique and unexpected for the character and his universe, I am completely open to the question. It’s an experience that I’ve always really enjoyed, and I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to do something different each time.
