The catastrophic audiences for season 5 of “This is Us” convinced M6 to deprogram the family series from its antenna. Where can you watch the latest episodes?
On January 6, M6 launched the broadcast in the second part of the evening of the unpublished season 5 in the clear of This is Us, a family series which strives to tell the life of the members of the Pearsons family at different stages of their lives.
But after only two short weeks on the air, the ax fell: the 6 decided to deprogram the series in order to offer reruns of season 1 of Why Women Kill. The reason for this decision: the hearings.
At the launch, the 4 new episodes, broadcast between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., attracted an average of 249,000 viewers, or 4.5% of the entire public. For its second evening, 283,000 people found themselves in front of their screens, representing a 3.9% market share. Audiences too low for the channel, which decided to stop the costs and withdraw the series from its antenna.
If this decision will not delight fans of This is Us, it is however not very surprising, the channel having already mistreated the broadcast of the series in the past. Already at the launch of season 1, M6 had chosen to offer 5 new episodes per evening. It was therefore necessary to be ready to stay up late to discover the adventures of the Pearson family. The channel then continued with seasons 2 and 3, which had suffered the same fate.
And last year, after only two weeks of broadcast, M6 decided to change the schedule for the fourth season by going from three to five episodes per evening. Despite unparalleled success in the United States, the This is Us sauce therefore had a really hard time taking hold in France.
If viewers will not be able to find the end of season 5 on the air, they will still be able to watch the last episodes for free on 6play. The complete first 5 seasons can also be found on Prime Video and the sixth and final season, currently broadcast in the United States, is available in US+24 on CANAL+.
Season 2 of the French remake of This is Us, called I promise you, will arrive from January 31 on TF1. Unlike its American counterpart, this version produced by Authentic Prod had reached, during the broadcast of the first season in February 2021, gathered an average of 4.04 million viewers, i.e. an audience share of 18.9% with of the whole public.
